Manchester United & FC Barcelona Draw in Thrilling UEFA Europa League Encounter! The European giants met in an unfamiliar tournament for both.

FC Barcelona drew 2-2 at home to Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League last night. This has set up a beautiful encounter in the second leg.

The last time these two sides met was in 2019 in the UEFA Champions League, a competition where they would often face each other. It was the first time that they met in the Europa League.

Marcos Alonso gave the hosts the lead from a corner in the second half. In form striker Marcus Rashford swiftly equalised for United.

The striker was then pivotal as he created the chance which Jules Kounde scored an own goal from. Brazil winger Raphinha equalised for Barcelona before the game ended.

“If you face the number one in Spain and you are that dominant, you see it as a positive. In such a game when you create five, seven clear chances you have to finish more of them, that’s clear.” United head coach Erik Ten Haag told UEFA.

Barca head coach Xavi Hernandez was happy to take the draw, as they were the inferior team in the game.

“We played against one of the best teams in Europe, with a top coach. OK, we didn’t win and I’m not going to start talking about making great progress because we could still go out next week, but I’m satisfied with how we’ve competed in this match.” He concluded.
