AFCON Preview: Morocco Not Underestimating Malawi! The North Africans take on the West Africans this evening.

Morocco face Malawi in their AFCON round of 16 fixture tonight. They are insisting on keeping a high level of performance in light of their favourites tag.

This year’s AFCON competition has thrown up many twists and turns. We have already seen the so-called big nations being sent packing at this early stage of the tournament.

Nigeria and Guinea both succumbed to team which they were supposedly superior then. However, they both suffered nasty surprises.

The Moroccans will keep this in mind as they attempt to avoid a slippery slope.

“The players are aware that they must have a combative attitude.” Morocco coach Vahid Halilhodzic told the press.

“The competition has shown here that there are no favourites. Everyone can move forward.

“We will enter this game with maximum concentration. Fortunately, our players are ready to give their contribution.

“We came here to win, and our hope is to qualify. I am happy because this is a generation that in a few years will make history.

“They have the potential to move on” he added.

The Moroccan team is filled with stars who play for the biggest teams in European football. This is what gives them the edge ahead of their opponents.
