Orlando Pirates and Stellenbosch Set for 2025 MTN8 Final Showdown

The 2025 MTN8 Final will see Orlando Pirates and Stellenbosch lock horns at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday, 13 September. Kick-off is scheduled for 18h00. This year’s final is a repeat of the 2024 showdown, where the Buccaneers lifted the trophy after a 3-1 victory. Stellenbosch will aim for revenge, while Pirates chase another crown to strengthen their dominance in the competition.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) and sponsor MTN have confirmed that award-winning artists Sjava and Mörda Bongz will headline the entertainment lineup. Fans are urged to arrive early to enjoy the live performances, cultural showcases, and stadium build-up. Gates will open at 14h00, with a pre-match entertainment programme designed to keep supporters engaged before the final kicks off.

All tickets for the 2025 MTN8 Final are sold out. Supporters are warned that no tickets will be sold at the stadium on match day. Fans who missed out can catch the match live on SuperSport PSL Channel 202 and SABC 2. Ticket holders are reminded that early arrival is strongly encouraged to avoid congestion at the gates and to enjoy the pre-match show.

To ensure smooth logistics, the PSL has set up five Park and Ride facilities in and around Mbombela. These services are free for valid ticket holders. Fans can park their vehicles, then board shuttle buses directly to the stadium. Return services will run after the final whistle. The Park and Ride service opens at 13h00. Access will be granted only upon presentation of a valid match ticket. Locations include Showgrounds, Hoërskool Bergvlam, Lowveld High School, Riverside Government Complex, and Fresh Produce Market.

This year’s MTN8 Final offers fans more than just football. At halftime, one supporter will be crowned the MTN8 Last Fan Standing and walk away with R1 million. Other competitions include Recharge & Win, where recharging with R20 or more gives fans a chance to win a share of R10 million, and Shesh@5G, which allows supporters who sign up in-store to win a Home Viewing Experience and exclusive prizes. Through the Goals for Charity initiative, MTN8 has already raised R460,000 for charitable causes. Legacy programmes such as Last Litre Standing continue to engage fans across the country.

Orlando Pirates come into the final as defending champions and record MTN8 winners. A victory would further cement their dominance in the competition. Stellenbosch, meanwhile, will look to turn the tables and claim their first MTN8 title in club history. With a sold-out crowd, top-class entertainment, and a fierce rivalry renewed, the 2025 MTN8 Final promises a memorable clash at Mbombela Stadium.
