The visitors headed into this match with a very narrow 1-0 lead from the first leg. In typical Jose Mourinho fashion, they defended the whole 90 minutes and managed to leave Germany unscathed, as they protected their first leg lead.

“Until the very end we did everything we could,” Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso added.
“We created chances and shots, but the goal just didn’t come. It was a good second leg with the small detail missing.
“It’s a shame, but we have to accept it. Losing after conceding just once is tough, but it’s football.” He spoke.
