Terrence Mashego Happy to Be A DSTV Premiership Champion! The left back won his first league title this season.

Mamelodi Sundowns won their sixth consecutive DSTV Premiership title this season. Left back Terrence Mashego is thrilled to have his first league medal.

Mashego joined Masandawana at the beginning of the season, from Cape Town City. When he joined, he was a regular for Bafana Bafana as well.

His first season at the club was riddled with injuries, making it difficult to maintain a regular spot in the team. He did play enough matches to warrant a league medal though.

“I am excited,” he told the club media.

“There are some footballers who have played for many years and some even retired without even winning a single trophy. I’ve won the Nedbank Cup before, but not the league.

“It feels very different. I can’t describe it.

“But it’s a different kind of feeling because with the league you need to play throughout the season. You’ve got to perform, and you need to do well.

“It’s a special moment.”

The biggest disappointment for Mashego is the injuries he sustained throughout the campaign.

“Personally, it was a difficult season because when the season started, I was still with Cape Town City, and I didn’t do preseason with the team [Cape Town City] because I was out with an injury. I got a knee injury when I was with the national team, and I was supposed to be out for two months (eight weeks).” He elaborated.
