Supersport United booked their spot in the Nedbank last 16 by beating Royal Eagles 2-1 in a thrilling encounter. Matsatsantsa came out guns blazing and dominated both halves of the match. Thabo Mnyamane opened the scoring line for Supersport with a beautiful goal after tripping the the defender and hitting past the legs of goal keeper.

However, Royal Eagles bounced back into the game with an equalizer. The game was then equal to both teams but Eagles slipped when unmarked Jeremy Brockie had a free header in the box and sealed the victory for Supersport United.
Royal Eagles then bounced back in the dying minutes of the game with a beautiful taken free kick by former Bafana Bafana international, Katlego Mphela. But the Free kick that beat Reyaad Pieterse was ruled as not a goal. This is perhaps a controversial decision that unfortunately cost Eagles a come back. Should the goal counted, the two teams would have gone the distance.
