Thabo Qalinge, 29-years-old, was contracted to SuperSport United last season before becoming a free agent. He had been training with AmaZulu over the past month or so.
Head coach Benni McCarthy was extremely impressed not only with his talent, but his hard work. Qalinge will be battling to enter the competitive AmaZulu frontline.
“I am very grateful to the club for granting me the chance to part of the structure, especially the coach.” He told the club media.
“I would like to thank management as well as everyone associated with the club. I hope that I can contribute a lot to the team’s success especially because the team has been doing well,” Qalinge said.
At the moment, there are the likes of Augustine Mulenga, Luvuyo Memela, Siphelele Mthembu, Lehlohonolo Majoro, Talent Chawapiwa, etc., in the Usuthu attack. Qalinge will have to oust them out in order to earn a starting berth.
“I am happy to be here, I hope I can just achieve more things and get to put the team where management and the coaches want it to be.”
“AmaZulu is not a small team, they have a lot of history. They have always been there, and it is nice now because it is a team that challenging for things.”
“It is nice to be around people with ambition, who want to achieve one goal. It is important to be around people like that,” Qalinge lamented.
He will wear the number 47 shirt for the club. He is already registered and can participate in PSL games.
