The PSL Confirms That Supporters Will Be Allowed Back into Football Stadiums! This followed an announcement by the government last week.
President Cyril Ramaphosa had announced that stadiums across the country can have up to 50% of their capacity. Thus, the PSL has promptly reopened stadia to the joy of supporters and teams.
The PSL has come under massive scrutiny for not being able to allow fans back into stadium much sooner than this. However, this is all behind everyone now as this has finally come true.
The only sour note is that only 50% of stadium capacity is allowed. Although not 100%, it is a start, and it is anticipated that at some point this year the entire stadium capacity will be allowed.
“The Premier Soccer League have confirmed that fans will be allowed back into local football matches from the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals that are scheduled to take place on the weekend of April 8-10.” SuperSport United announced in their statement.
“PSL chairman Dr Irvin Khoza made the announcement on Tuesday following a meeting of the organisation’s Executive Committee.
“He said that matches this coming weekend would be too soon for the recategorization process that needs to be undertaken in order to ensure all security and other arrangements are in place.
“Fans wishing to attend games must have been fully vaccinated, or hold a negative PCR test no older than 72 hours. And venues will only be able to be filled to 50 percent of their usual capacity.
“But it is welcome news for local supporters, who have been barred from venues since, ironically, the 2020 Nedbank Cup quarterfinals that were played March 13-15 that year.” It concludes.
This coming weekend, there will be no fans as it is too soon. The PSL Confirms That Supporters Will Be Allowed Back into Football Stadiums!
