Thembinkosi Lorch, who has also trended for things outside football, is making trending news again. The Orlando Pirates player, has been found guilty by the Randburg Magistrates Court for assaulting his ex girlfriend Nokuthula Mathithibala. At the time, Lorch was arrested and released on a R2K bail. He has been found guilt of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
According to reports the incident took place back in September 2020, when the then lovers had a misunderstanding. According to Mathithibala, Lorch left her at his place to go out for the night. She then messaged him, asking for her car keys, of which upon his arrival an argument erupted. Lorch allegedly became violent, and started to strangle Mathithibala, while beating her at the same time. She was rescued by her friend after calling for help.
The medical evidence corroborated Mathithibala’s statement, as for Lorch, he had no injuries. Phindi Mjonondwane, NPA Gauteng Spokesperson, said Lorch was not a credible witness.
Sentencing has been set down for July 28.
