Three Manchester United men battle it out for Player of the Month
Three Manchester United men are in contention for October’s Player of the Month award. Check out the full list below and let us know who you think deserves it!
Ander Herrera: 5 appearances, 0 goals
The popular midfielder has been in superb form of late and was outstanding in the draw at Liverpool when producing a tigerish performance. Emerging as a key presence in Jose Mourinho’s team, he set up Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s acrobatic effort that forced the pick of Tom Heaton’s saves for Burnley before being harshly sent off for a second yellow card.
Juan Mata: 4 (1) appearances, 1 goal
The clever technician hit the winner against Manchester City in the EFL Cup and has pulled the strings in an attacking sense with some impressive approach work. He combined well with Ibrahimovic against Burnley with only the finishing touch lacking, although he hit a post with one of the best attempts of the goalless draw and also forced some smart stops by Heaton.
Antonio Valencia: 4 appearances, 0 goals
Looking completely comfortable in his right-back role, the Ecuador international has rightly earned plaudits for his displays, including a tour de force against City in the cup derby. He was also excellent at Anfield, making a goal-saving challenge on Roberto Firmino, and the injury that caused him to miss the Burnley clash was an untimely blow.
