Tim Sukazi’s New Role in the PSL: A Humble Beginning with Big Ambitions
Newly appointed Premier Soccer League (PSL) Executive Committee member, Tim Sukazi, has expressed his gratitude and outlined a measured approach as he embarks on his new role. Speaking after the National Soccer League (NSL) Quadrennial General Meeting at the Sandton Convention Centre, the TS Galaxy chairman stressed that it is premature to suggest any specific changes for the league at this stage.
Embracing the Role with Humility
Sukazi, a respected figure in South African football, conveyed his sense of humility and responsibility following his appointment. “I’m pretty much humbled by the trust and confidence that the league membership has bestowed on me. Obviously, it is not often that one is given such a monumental task,” Sukazi said. He emphasized his dedication to serving South African football, seeing the role as both a privilege and a significant responsibility.
“It is a task that I don’t take lightly. By any stretch of the imagination, it is a huge responsibility and I’m taking such responsibility with the utmost humility,” he added.
Learning from Experienced Leaders
While Sukazi refrained from making any immediate promises or plans for new initiatives, he noted the importance of familiarizing himself with the operations and governance of the PSL. His goal is to learn from experienced administrators within the league and to contribute effectively to its development.
“Hopefully I will be enhancing the amount of good work that has already been done by my predecessors and obviously other members who remain in the executive committee of the league,” Sukazi said. He underscored the collective effort required for continued progress in the PSL, expressing a readiness to work collaboratively with fellow Exco members.
A Commitment to Continuous Improvement
Despite acknowledging that it is too soon to pinpoint what changes might be beneficial, Sukazi’s remarks reflect his commitment to maintaining and building upon the league’s existing strengths. “I know it’s still too early to say what we can do to enhance the league or what we can add but we will be working together with all the other members for the betterment of the game. So, personally I’m humbled and I’m saying for the good of the game, failure is not an option,” Sukazi affirmed.
The NSL Quadrennial conference, held at the Sandton Convention Centre, marked a new chapter for the PSL with Sukazi stepping into his role alongside experienced leaders. His focus on learning and contributing to the league’s continued excellence underscores a promising outlook for South African football. With his leadership and passion for the sport, Sukazi is poised to make a meaningful impact, ensuring that the league continues to thrive and evolve.
