Signing Adebayor worth the risk – Harry Redknapp

Harry Redknapp believes signing Emmanuel Adebayor should be a ‘no-brainer’ for a host of Premier League clubs – even current champions Chelsea.

The 31-year-old striker is without a club after leaving Tottenham earlier this season, but has been completing double sessions in his native Togo in order to maintain fitness ahead of a January transfer.

Adebayor has lucrative offers in Turkey and the Middle East, but the former Arsenal striker is keen to seal a return to England.

And Redknapp believes Adebayor would help any club currently struggling in the bottom half of the table and that includes Guus Hiddink’s Chelsea currently in 14th-place.

Speaking in his Evening Standard column, Redknapp wrote: ‘If any manager rang me about signing Emmanuel Adebayor I’d have a simple message: take him until the end of the season. You can’t lose.

‘When you look around at what is available in the market this month, Adebayor on a free transfer until the end of the season is a no-brainer.

‘He could even perform at a higher level – Chelsea have been linked with him and if he went to a club like that, he’d know he wouldn’t necessarily play every week but on a short-term basis, so he should relish the challenge of proving he is big enough to play in the big games.’
