All over the world a derby is a game of two elephants meeting to clash and it is always entertaining and unites people of all races, sex and ethnic groups. Same applies to South Africa where soccer unites people from all corners of the country to meet as two teams from the same city or district meet. These are the top 5 Derbies in the PSL for 2016/17 season.

1. Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs top the league as two Soweto giants and this is a game not to be missed whether cup competition or the PSL league. Pirates was founded in 1937 and has a CAF star while Chiefs was founded in 1970. The two teams have a history that dates way back to the 70s till now. The two teams meet this coming weekend for a PSL clash.
2. Supersport United and Mamelodi Sundowns are Tshwane giants and continue to battle for the Tshwane City and thus far Sundowns hold a record of the most games won against Supersport.
3. Bloemfontein Celtic and Free State Stars are two clubs that have a jam packed entertaining derby with the game color in singing and cheering. The Free State province derby continues to inspire other club supporters to rally behind their teams.
4. The Cape Town derby used to be between Ajax Cape Town and Santos. However, Santos got relegated from the PSL and now the mother city derby is between Ajax and Cape Town City. Cape Town City holds the record for most games won against the Urban Warriors.
5. Polokwane derby is one entertaining and cultural filled game between Polokwane City and Baroka FC. Both teams are fiarly young on the PSL but they are well know for great energy and fair play.
