Gaston Sirino is a pivotal member at Mamelodi Sundowns and he played a huge role also this season when they swept all the domestic trophies.

Apparently, he even missed a trophy parade that Sundowns had as he was rushing to take a holiday back home in Uruguay. He took his time going back to where he grew up to take pictures. Have a look.

He won three trophies with Masandawana this season and seems more happy now than last season after the rumours that he wanted to depart. It looks like he’ll be coming back also next season and continue being part of the strong Brazilians squad.

With all the rumours of Al Ahly trying to lure him to Egypt coming to an end before the start of the recently ended season, Sundowns co-coach confirmed in February this year that the player was keen to stay.

“No, but the club does not have a problem letting anyone go. He’s an important player in the club, he’s a good player and he’s showing all the signs that he wants to get back and play,” Mngqithi said.

“And we could not just let him go when there were no offers on the table [in the January window] and when he shows that he wants to play for us.

“I believe he’s going to come back stronger — maybe the arrival of Saavreda will make him more powerful for us. And maybe it will bring the best out of him.”

He also praised the Uruguayan forward saying he bring freshness in the team: “At this stage, a player like Gaston is like a new acquisition for us,” said Mngqithi after the match.

“We are excited as the technical team because when you look at Gaston you are saying this is one additional member to the squad because he has not played and he is fresh. He can still give us a little bit more freshness in the game and help us going forward.”
