Amakhosi defeated Petro de Luanda in the CAF Champions League on Saturday. Mashiane’s return to the team also saw him return to the score sheet.

This was their first victory in the Champions League. Now the young man is eager to take on Maritzburg United in the DSTV Premiership this afternoon.

“Coming back from injury was not easy,” he tells the club website.

“I had to work hard to be in the starting line up again. I was fortunate enough to score a goal. I am working on being consistent and also trying to prevent injuries. I have been lucky because my injuries have been minor.

The last time these 2 sides met it was Maritzburg United that grabbed all 3 points. Judas Moseamedi scored a brace to secure a 2-0 win at the FNB Stadium.

The Team of Choice have grabbed 4 points from their last 2 matches.

“It won’t be an easy one, they beat us in the first round at home,” Mashiane admits.

“We know that most of the teams don’t win maximum points at Harry Gwala Stadium. Playing against them and the fact that they are coming from a draw means it won’t be easy.

“They have a good team and they usually dominate in terms of keeping the ball using their speedy players.” He says.

Kaizer Chiefs are now playing in only 2 competitions for the remainder of the season. They are likely to be eliminated in the CAF Champions League, meaning that they can only hope for a high league position as salvation for their season.

“It’s not easy but I won’t say this is what I signed up for. Juggling CAF and DSTV Premiership games is tricky as the football and the conditions are not the same.

“It’s something that we have to work on” Mashiane laments.

“It’s not a good thing that a big team like Kaizer Chiefs is 10th on the log,” he adds on.

“We will take it one game at a time. What we always say is that we are the ones who put ourselves in this situation, so we have to start climbing up the log.

“The route upwards begins on Wednesday.” He concludes. Mashiane Happy To Return from Injury Setbacks!
