Vinicius Jr. Overjoyed After Wearing Real Madrid Captain’s Armband for the First Time

Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr. was ecstatic after captaining Los Blancos for the first time in his career during their Copa del Rey clash against Real Sociedad. The Brazilian forward, who has been heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, used the opportunity to reaffirm his commitment to the Spanish giants.
A Special Moment for Vinicius
With senior players like Luka Modric, Dani Carvajal, and Fede Valverde unavailable, Vinicius was given the captain’s armband by Carlo Ancelotti on Wednesday night. The 24-year-old led Madrid to a crucial 1-0 victory, helping the team secure a spot in the semi-finals.
Speaking after the game, Vinicius expressed his immense pride in leading the club he has called home since 2018.
“It’s something very special,” he told Real Madrid TV (via Managing Madrid). “After so much time here and at 24 years old, playing my first game as captain is a source of pride for me and my family, after everything we’ve been through to be here, to reach the club of my dreams and to be able to fulfill my dreams.”
Dismissing Saudi Links
Despite persistent speculation about a potential move to the Saudi Pro League, Vinicius made it clear that his heart remains with Real Madrid. He emphasized his desire to continue making history with the club, pointing to his upcoming milestone of 300 appearances as just another step in his long-term journey.
“I hope I can continue doing this for a long time,” he added. “Next game I’ll reach 300 games, and I already want 400 and 500. I want to make history at this club.”
What’s Next for Vinicius?
The Brazilian will be back in action on Saturday, March 1, when Real Madrid face Real Betis in La Liga. Following that, he will turn his focus to the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first-leg clash against city rivals Atletico Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu.
With his captaincy debut now behind him, Vinicius seems more determined than ever to lead Madrid to more success in the years ahead.
