Vuyo Mere Is Not Thinking About Retirement in The Near Future! The veteran defender is still planning on playing for more years.
TS Galaxy defender Vuyo Mere turned 38 years old earlier this year. Despite his age, he has claimed that he is not thinking about retiring from football anytime soon.
He made his professional debut as a 17-year-old in 2001, where he represented the now defunct Hellenic. He has since played for the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns, Platinum Stars and Swallows FC.
Mere also played for Bafana Bafana before retiring from international football.
“I’m still going strong,” Mere told the TS Galaxy website.
“I haven’t thought about retirement yet. I’m still making the team week in and week out and I’m also appreciated at TS Galaxy.
“I want to achieve things in my career,” he added.
“I can say I train more than any other players. I can’t say I also have more discipline than other players either.
“I think it is a grace of God because many talented players were more disciplined than me. There can only be one person who is looking after me and that is God.
“If you don’t have God in your life, it doesn’t matter what you do. Without God, there is nothing possible.” He preached.
