South African football has recently come under the spotlight with FIFA on Wednesday confirming that SAFA had bribed their way to winning the 2010 world cup bid.
Fifa has confirmed that the $10 million (R161,1 million) that was redirected to a developmental fund in the Caribbean at the order of the South African Football Association (Safa) does in fact constitute a bribe.
Fans across Africa had the benefit of watching the 2010 world cup but given the negative publicity the nation is receiving was hosting the world’s biggest football competition really worth it?
