Manqoba Mngqithi Believes Mamelodi Sundowns Can Win The CAF Champions League! Masandawana secured their passage into the group stages of the competition.

Mamelodi Sundowns defeated Maniema Union to qualify for the group stages of the CAF Champions League. Co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi believes that they have what it takes to lift the prized trophy.

Lyle Lakay and the prolific Peter Shalulile scored the decisive goals to hand Masandawana the victory. This wrapped up a 4-2 aggregate win.

Mngqithi believes that the squad they possess now is better than what they had last season.

“We are of the view that we’ve got a better team than last season,” Mngqithi said after the victory.

“Even though last year we believed we had a very, very good team.

“If you can still remember what transpired last season. We performed very well and to score a goal against Al Ahly through Peter Shalulile who was adjudged offside.

“Because if that goal was allowed it could have turned that game into a different space as well.

“But the group that we have this year has been reinforced a little bit from what we had last year and we are very hopeful that they have got the capacity to win the Champions League.

“We have got to take each step, each game as it comes and see what we end up.

“But we are very confident that the group that we have has got the capacity to lift any trophy that is on offer.

“But we have to take each and every game and give it the seriousness and attention that it deserves.

“Each and every opponent then becomes critical in us achieving those targets.” He concluded.
