Watch! Parker Still Training Hard Despite Being Released By Chiefs
Bernard Parker has been training hard alone despite being released by Kaizer Chiefs alongside other players who didn’t have their contracts extended. Parker and his wife recently came back from holiday and the former Amakhosi and Bafana Bafana talisman has been busy keeping himself fit.

Parker alluded to the fact that he’d still like to continue playing but it seems like Amakhosi are understood to be planning to grant Parker a role at Chiefs. His agent Mike Makaab also confirmed that Parker’s future will be decided at Chiefs in the near future. A few years ago, Parker obtained a higher certificate in sports marketing at Boston College.
PARKER’S REACTION TO HIS CHIEFS’ DEPARTURE
The 36-year-old was a guest at Gagasi FM when he spoke about leaving Kaizer Chiefs and was clear that it was yet to sink in. Speaking to Simtho Dladla and Mike Makaab (his agent), he reflected on highs and lows at Chiefs.
“I have fought through many struggles, the Club (Kaizer Chiefs) has given me a huge responsibility of leading the club by being Captain, it’s been a beautiful journey,” he said. During the tough times when the team wasn’t doing well, I was the one who was targeted the most, I had to delete my social media accounts so I could focus on myself and my game.
During Gavin Hunt’s time, Parker nearly left Amakhosi but he was given another contract after showing so much effort. With Itumeleng Khune having injuries at the time, he was also given the armband as many players within the team believed in him.

“Most of the players in the team believed in me so I felt that I had to reward them by giving my best in training and the matches. The criticism became normal for me, and I used it as motivation. I had some good highs at Chiefs, some were prolonged and some were short-lived, which include becoming the clubs all-time leading scorer in the PSL Era, and playing in 30 Soweto derbies.
“I wouldn’t say I have accepted it (leaving Chiefs) but football is a business so I understand that sometimes decisions are not based on what you can give but what the club wants, I had the maturity to understand that.
