The Buccaneers scored two second half goals through Monnapule Saleng and Thembinkosi Lorch to seal their qualification to the next round.

“Can I go home first and watch the game, and then comment after?” Badela joked, to SuperSport TV.

“No look, I thought we did well in the first 60 minutes. We stuck to the plan, and we had a few chances on transition, but we made a few mistakes and then in the second half, we turned over the ball in our half. The rest defense is not good, and then they go and score.

“And once a team like Pirates scores first, it becomes a problem. Because now it’s a cup game we have to send more numbers [up front.] they’ve got [Thembinkosi] Lorch on the pitch, they’ve got Vincent Pule, they’ve got [Monnapule] Saleng, they’ve got speed, so its suits them to play a little bit more on the counter.

“But I cannot fault my players, I thought they gave it their best, so I just want to tell them that we still love them. They gave their best.” He added.

The side currently occupies the top half in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

“No look, I think we could compete. You could see we could compete, there was time where we were playing, but I thought we could have been a little bit braver on the ball.

“Some individual mistakes, but that’s why we’ll go home. We’ll have a look at the game. What we will learn from today’s game is that if you make mistakes against top teams, they are going to punish you, which is something we haven’t been doing when they make mistakes.

“So, we have to learn from that, and we’ll get better.” He concluded.
