‘The Whole Team Would Bath In Muti,’ Teko Reveals Orlando Pirates Rituals! Modise did not hold anything back in his new biography, ‘The Curse of Teko Modise.

Speaking on his time at Orlando Pirates, Modise revealed that the club believed in using muti to win. “The whole team [Orlando Pirates]  would strip naked takes a bath in the muti. We believed in muti a lot at Pirates. We used to bath a lot in muti,” Teko Modise said at his book launch on Tuesday.

“There was a lot to get used to at Orlando Pirates. One of the most interesting things was the role of muti.…When Teko arrived at Pirates he met their resident sangoma. In Teko’s first week‚ the sangoma said he was going to try something new.

“In the change room before the game‚ the sangoma placed a stick at the entrance. All the players had to jump back and forth over the stick. When new rituals would not work the sangoma would revert to the classic ritual – the bath,” the book reveals.
