Lucky Lekgwathi recently reopened his Grootman restaurant in the Southdale suburbs. He has revealed that Willard Katsande helped him with the rebuild of the restaurant.

The two were former rivals on the pitch, with Lekgwathi representing Orlando Pirates and Katsande Kaizer Chiefs. They were able to look past their previous on-field rivalry and support each other.

Sekhukhune United midfielder Willard Katsande has a construction business, which did rebuild of the restaurant.

“We found the site where to start the shop, I remember I was busy with MTN 8,” Lekgwathi told Diski Times.

“My business partner met with him [Katsande] because he has a construction business so he said he can help us to set up the shop and the shop looks nice.”

“He’s done a great job, you know, with reasonable costs and not forgetting one of my friends Pule, he came in, because I think there was a time where he (Katsande) was busy so Pule came in to finish the touch-ups.”

Lekgwathi enjoyed a successful launch day of the show in the middle of the week. It was an occasion which was filled with celebrities.

“The thing is that it was not only the players or the legends, even like actors and singers they came to support me, so they came to support because they were so happy, they heard about the looting. 

“And it was nice to see my former coach Augusto Palacios, Dr Khumalo cutting the ribbon with me, the likes of Yeye Letsholonyane, my former teammates, Thandani Ntshumayelo, Thabo Matlaba and my MC of the day Brighton Mhlongo and my friends, Magents Edward Motale, you know the list is endless. 

“Thank you so very much, especially to the public and to the businesspeople and to the organizations you know for making sure I’m back on my on my feet.” He added.
