Young Africans SC Part Ways with Manager Miguel Gamondi

Tanzanian football giants Young Africans SC have officially parted ways with their head coach, Angel Miguel Gamondi. The decision comes in the wake of a challenging run that has left the Dar es Salaam-based club in second place on the league table, trailing Simba SC by just one point.

Yanga’s recent performances have been underwhelming, with the team suffering consecutive defeats. They first lost 1-0 to Azam FC and then faced a 3-1 defeat against Tabora United FC earlier this month. These results prompted the club’s management to take swift action during the international break.

In an official statement, the club confirmed the termination of Gamondi’s contract: “The management of Young Africans Sports Club wishes to inform the public that the contract with the Head Coach of the first team, Angel Miguel Gamondi, has been terminated. Similarly, the management has also terminated the contract of the Assistant Coach of the first team, Moussa Ndaw. The management extends its gratitude to both coaches for their contributions to our club and wishes them all the best in their future endeavours.”

The statement also assured fans that the search for new coaching staff is already underway and is expected to be completed shortly.

Gamondi, who succeeded Nasreddine Nabi at the beginning of the 2023/24 season, had an impressive start to his tenure. He led Yanga to domestic success by winning 26 out of 30 matches, securing the club’s third consecutive league title. However, recent setbacks proved costly, forcing the club’s leadership to reconsider their long-term strategy.

The club’s CEO and officials were unavailable for additional comments regarding potential replacements. Fans and analysts alike will be keenly watching as Yanga begins its quest for a new coach to steer the team back to victory.

This move underscores Yanga’s determination to maintain their competitive edge as they pursue league supremacy and continental ambitions.
