Zimbabwe’s top 5 S.A premiership flops
Zimbabwe have over the past two decades exported several players to the South African premiership. While many have been impressive for the clubs they represented some have turned out to be major flops for the clubs that signed them.
Here is a top 5 list of players that flopped for their teams.
5. Tafadzwa Rusike moved to Ajax Cape Town with high expectation on his shoulders. Despite showing some signs of ability, Rusike failed to make a mark in the ABSA premiership with his love for Cape Town women believed to be among reasons for his failure.
4. Rodrick Mutuma, made a move from Zimbabwean giants Dynamos to Bloemfentein Celtic. Despite all the hype surrounding his move, Mutuma failed to make a meaningful impact at Celtic, thus eventually returning to Zimbabwe.
3. Evans Gwekwerere – Gwekwerere was a hit at Dynamos before moving to Moroka Swallows. Despite the huge expectation that the Dube Birds had, Gwekwerere was a failure at Moroka.
2. Ovidy Karuru – Boasting of having played in France and Belgium Ovidy Karuru moved to Kaizer Chiefs with the club confident he would be a star signing. Karuru has however made a few appearances for Amakhosi and failed to impress the Chiefs technical department.
- Simba Sithole – Simba Sithole is the biggest flop to ever make a move to the ABSA premiership. After being bought by Mamelodi Sundowns from Caps United, Sithole made a handful of appearances before being deemed excess garbage.
