Platinum Stars coach Roger De Sa is hoping his international players will come back better from national duty.
Malawi’s Robert Ng’ambi, Zambian’s Brian Mwila and Thabang Sesinyi of Botswana will do duty for their countries in the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifiers and international friendlies. Zambia will play Cameroon on November 11 in a World Cup qualifier while Malawi and Botswana will play Lesotho and Gabon respectively on November 14.
De Sa is delighted that his men will return with massive experience that will benefit his side in their quest to make moves up the Absa Premiership table.
“It’s always good that the guys get called up for national duty and represent their country. We are just going to monitor them and watch how much they play and check their fatigue when they come back. It’s good to see them play. Gaucho is injured. I don’t think he is going to play. Robert is ever present in that Malawian side and he scores goals. He will probably play. I hope Brian gets a run and finds his form. I am delighted to have all three of them and hopefully we get more in the future,” said De Sa.
“When you play for national team, it’s definitely another level. A lot of things come to play. You play for a lot of pride. It’s a totally different environment. It’s going to be good for them. Every game you play for the national team you benefit and you gain lots of experience. You have to watch their fatigue and how much running they do. There’s a lot of time before our next game so we are not too concerned about that.”
De Sa revealed that during this break more time will be devoted to helping players to improve on individual level.
“At this period we do a lot of individual work. We try to focus on weaknesses of players and try to make them better players. It’s difficult to work as a team because some key players are not here. We still do a bit of team work. It’s individual work. The guys with niggling injuries, we are trying to slow them down, get them rest and get them ready for the next game,” said De Sa.
Dikwena’s next assignment is a home fixture against Bloemfontein Celtic on November 21.
