Nkosinathi Sibisi Explains That There Were Other PSL Teams Who Wanted Him! The Bafana Bafana defender joined The Bucs from Abafana Bes’thende in the close season.

Nkosinathi Sibisi was a defender who was desired by many teams in the DSTV Premiership. He has revealed that more DSTV Premiership wanted him, before eventually joining Orlando Pirates.

His stock rose hugely when Hugo Broos made him a starting player in the Bafana Bafana squad. He even started in the friendly away to world champions France.

“The negotiation started last season,” Sibisi revealed in an interview.

“There was interest from not only Orlando Pirates but there was interest from other teams as well. I had a conversation with my agent Mike Makaab, and he advised me as best as possible in which decision to make.

“In regard to the pressures of the team, and my requirements to the culture of the team. And, if I would fit into the team, but then eventually I joined Orlando Pirates because it is a club I started supporting as a boy.

“I think I have a story that I also want to write with Orlando Pirates.” He spoke.

Sibisi was born and bred in Kwa-Zulu Natal. This is where he had played all his professional club football, before moving to Johannesburg to join the Soweto Giants.

“Nkosinathi comes from a small township in Mpophomeni, near Howick. That’s where I grew up until I had to move to Durban because of school.

“So, that’s basically where I was based until I moved.

“I started playing football at a very young age. We used to play in the streets, however we just played for fun, until I moved to Durban for school.

“That’s when I joined the school’s team at the Mangosuthu University of Technology and that’s when I started taking football seriously.” He added.
