Judge Windell Denies Royal AM‘s Latest Appeal Against PSL Acting CEO! The NFD side continue to strive for DSTV Premiership promotion.

Royal AM’s latest appeal was to find PSL acting CEO Mato Madlala in contempt of court. This is for proceeding with the promotion playoffs, despite AJ Nyathi ruling that the playoffs should be postponed.

The promotion playoffs saw Chippa United top the mini league, as a result reassuring their status in the PSL for next season. This was severely helped as Royal AM did not show up for any of their fixtures.

The club believed that the playoffs were NOT supposed to begin until Judge AJ Nyathi of the high court could give a ruling. As a result, they did not pitch up for any of their matches.

“Royal AM’s application is without merit and must be dismissed.” A portion of the statement read.

“In the result the following order is made: 1. The application is dismissed with costs, including the costs of two counsel where so employed.” It went on.

The club’s pursuit of DSTV Premiership football has now suffered a huge blow. This means that the promotion playoffs were legitimate, therefore Chippa United will reclaim their DSTV Premiership spot.

“The relief Royal AM seeks runs contrary to the previous findings of this court and is not supported by the facts or the law. The interdictory relief granted by Nyathi AJ in paragraph 3 came to an end when Sutherland DJP refused leave to appeal on 18 June 2021,” reads Windell’s judgment.

“Paragraph 2 of the order of Nyathi AJ did not have the effect of reinstating Royal AM to the top of the GladAfrica Championship and has been suspended by the NSL’s application for leave to appeal.
