Floyd “Money” Mayweather Hints At 2020 Fighting Return

Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather has announced that he will be making a sensational return to the ring next year though it is not clear which ring but there is a high possibility that he will feature prominently in the UFC Octagon.

Mayweather who boasts a 50-win record with zero defeats sent an Instagram post declaring: “Coming out of retirement in 2020”.

Mayweather’s news was quickly re-posted on Twitter by UFC chief Dana White, leading to talk that the pair could work together and the boxer could cross over to MMA for his sensational return.

Mayweather and White were seen talking in a basketball game together on Wednesday night, sending the rumour mill into overdrive.

Mayweather and White worked together as part of that fight with McGregor two years ago the last time Mayweather fought in a professional boxing bout beating UFC fighter Conor McGregor and making £7million from the fight.

Mayweather’s possible conversion to a cage fighter will provide a fascinating spectacle, and the tantalizing prospect of a possible second meeting with McGregor, this time in an octagon, would send fans of both sports into a frenzy.

McGregor will certainly have felt hard done by the defeat to Mayweather who obviously had the advantage in the boxing match and had McGregor been able to call on a striking arsenal consisting of kicks and elbows, plus his grappling skills aside from the boxing punches the outcome would most likely have been a quick and painful defeat for Mayweather.

If Mayweather, one of the greatest fighters to ever step into a boxing ring, does decide to try his hand at something new, he will need protection from the more extreme elements of cage fighting if he is to make any impact.

Despite being 42-years-old and turning 43 in February 2020, he will surely hope his hands can still pack a potent punch, but the addition of elbows, knees, kicks and grappling in MMA represent a huge challenge for the boxer boasting an unblemished 50-0 record dating back to 1996.

Mayweather who is always on social media flaunting his wealth will definitely be avariciously looking for the rich pickings that come with another shot in the fighting ring whether it is boxing or mixed martial arts.

His “Money” nickname and social media activity showing off his love of an opulent lifestyle indicate, his coming out of retirement has ceased to be all about belts and titles but a creative approach to maximizing his monetary value.
