“To Be Top Of The Log At This Time Of The Season Is A Bonus”- Says Cavin Johnson
Platinum Stars coach Cavin Johnson does not want to get carried away by his team’s early season performances, even though their are unbeaten up to so far this season. Platinum Stars find themselves sitting at the top of the Absa premier league log standings, with 14 points equal with Black Aces, with four wins and two draws from their first six games of the campaign.
In spite of the good start, Johnson is containing his joy and believes it is too soon to begin talking about Dikwena’s title chances.
“To be top of the log at this time of the season is a bonus for us, but we know that a lot people will start talking and eyebrows will be raised,” he was quoted as saying by the Sowetan.
“As a club, where we are now is a culmination of a very good pre-season and having a good board of directors.
“It is definitely too early to talk about whether we have the necessary ingredients to go all the way. I would be putting the cart before the horse if I spoke about that.
There’s no doubt that Cavin Johnson is good in producing and nurturing the young talent, he coached players like Steven Pienaar.
“What I can speak about is building the brand, the technique and a good crop of young players, like when I played my 15-year-old player against Golden Arrows.
“Those are the things I thrive on and are equivalent to winning the league.”
