Kaizer Chiefs defender Siyanda Xulu is still yet to play this season. The 25 year old star from Durban has had a great run locally and internationally. See below 10 things you don’t know about Xulu.
- Xulu is a product of both Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns youth development.
- Xulu was promoted to senior team of Mamelodi Sundowns in 2009 from their youth development.
- Xulu has played for Rostov in Russia in 2012 after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns.
- In May 2010 Xulu was offered a trial by Barcelona FC before having a two-week trial with Arsenal FC in September 2010, which he also failed to do enough to win a contract.
- Xulu made his debut for the South African National team on 15 June 2012 in the match against Gabon, he substituted Morgan Gould at the 80th minute.
- Xulu has since had 4 national caps under his belt.
- Xulu has signed a 5 year deal with Kaizer Chiefs in 2015. The defender has since however not been in the first eleven of Steve Komphela and has been captain of Chiefs reserve side in the Multichoice Diski Challenge.
- In the Telkom Knockout final that Chiefs lost to Sundowns in 2015, Xulu was accused of leaking the game plan to his former side Mamelodi Sundowns. The accusations resulted in Xulu being transfer listed.
