Thiago Alcantara Officially Signs For Liverpool. After much anticipation, Thiago Alcantara was announced as a Liverpool player last night. The Spanish midfielder signed a “long term” contract with Liverpool. The news comes after rumours linked Thiago with Liverpool for the entire transfer window.
Thiago will wear his acclaimed #6 shirt. The Spaniard signed for 20 million pounds. A deal which could rise up to 25 million in bonuses.
The midfielder had a year left on his contract with Bayern Munich. After initially agreeing to sign a contract extension with the Bavarians, Tiago changed his mind when Liverpool showed interest.
He joins Naby Keita, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum, Curtis Jones, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Xherdan Shaqiri and James Milner in the Liverpool midfield. Many agree that Thiago just walks into the starting XI, with others battling for a starting berth.
Thiago brings a winning mentatlity with him. He’s won a succession of trophies at both Bayern Munich and F.C Barcelona. He’s won 11 league titles, 2 FIFA Club World Cups & 2 UEFA Champions League’s.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was excited about the signing of Thiago.
“Great! Absolutely great. I’m really happy that it finally worked out and we could just do it.” The Liverpool manager said.
“It’s very exceptional because in our situation, a lot of people around us talk constantly – ‘What are you doing? – bam, bam, bam. Then preparing something like this, working on all different things you have to work in a transfer like this – with thinking about a player like him already is a joy, to be honest, because it gives us obviously some options.
“Then you get in contact with the boy and then you realise, OK, he obviously likes this project as well pretty much, even before he is here, which was really nice. I learned more and more about him as a person; the player I knew before, the person I learned.
“So, I’m really happy to bring this wonderful person in as an add-on to the squad, which is just good for football reasons – but for all the other reasons as well. So, yeah, absolutely happy that he’s here.” It is unsure whether he’ll feature tomorrow against Chelsea as Thiago Alcantara officially signs for Liverpool.
