Joachim Low Stunned as Spain Hit Germany for SIX!
Spain thumped Germany 6-0 to top their UEFA Nations League group. The manner of the defeat has added more pressure on the German coach.
Joachim Low Stunned as Spain Hit Germany for SIX! The coach has admitted that this has been a dark day in German football.
This result means that Germany have broken all sorts of records. All for the wrong reasons!
- Ferran Torres became only the third player to score a hattrick against Germany. He is the first in 19 years since Michael Owen in 2001.
- Germany have conceded 6 goals for the first time in 89 years. No German staff member was even born at the time.
- Manuel Neuer conceded 6 goals in a game for the first time. This is for club and country.
Joachim Low admitted that this was a forgettable day for the squad.
“This has been a black day for us,” he said.
“We completely lost track of our plan after we went 1-0 down, which was deadly, and the Spanish took their chances.
“Nothing worked, neither in defence nor attack.
“We left huge spaces, there was a lack of communication between the players.”
Joachim Low has been the German head coach since 2006 after Jurgen Klinsmann left his post. He has been under severe pressure since Germany’s woeful 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign.
“Of course,” Low said after he was asked whether he still wants to carry on the job. He has two years remaining on his contract with the German FA.
“It’s our duty to look at this and ask what we can do better.
“We were second best in every department, it was a black day – there is no way of dressing this up.” Low added on.
He already has the backing of team director and former Germany international Oliver Bierhoff.
“The trust in Joachim Low is still completely there, absolutely,” insisted Bierhoff.
“We have to analyse this hard — the Spanish goalkeeper hardly made a save the whole game.
“There was a lack of experience there, no question.
“We have to get rid of all the co-ordination problems in defence.”
