Ngcobo on playing his former team
The Kaizer Chiefs defender Njabulo Ngcobo has revealed his feelings ahead of their match against his former side, Swallows FC. Ngcobo who was on top of his form last season made Chiefs not think twice about landing him to Naturena.
Ngcobo was outstanding in his 28 games for Swallows leaving a massive mark in South African football and it led him to be named the Premier Soccer League defender of the season.
He’s been used with mixed success in both a holding midfield and defensive role this season at Chiefs and has also had his share of injuries that have blighted his progress at the Club.

Taking into account that The Birds will be seeking maximum points to avoid the relegation, Ngcobo knows that it will be a tough game. “It’s a tough game. They want three points, but we also want to keep the momentum we’ve been generating. We want to win games. It’s going to be a good game, even though it won’t be easy for us,” said Ngcobo.
“I won’t focus on other teams, but for us so far so good, we have done everything right this week. We need three points again, so that when we come back next season, we can have a good start because if you finish well you feel the same way entering another season.
“I just hope we get maximum points and play good football as we have been doing. Other teams have their plans, but we need to focus on ours. If we can win this game, there might be a chance for us to play in CAF competition, so I hope so,” concluded Ngcobo.
Ngcobo had an altercation with goalkeeper coach Lee Baxter after he refused to shake Arthur Zwane as he was being substituted few weeks ago. However, after a few days, he issued an apology to the club and fans.

“I would like to sincerely apologise to coach Arthur Zwane, coach Dillon Sheppard, coach Lee Baxter, my teammates, Kaizer Chiefs management and all Amakhosi supporters for not shaking the coach’s hand and for the outburst that followed after being taken off. I take full responsibility for my actions and such should not be repeated.”
“I am not proud of what I did,” adds Ngcobo. “It was a heat of the moment thing because I made some costly mistakes during the match and it’s not nice knowing that you’ve let the team down as a player, but that does not justify any of my actions. I promise to do better in the future.”
