Keegan Allan Departs Richards Bay, Linked with Move to KZN Rivals AmaZulu

Defender Keegan Allan has officially parted ways with Richards Bay FC after just one season, with strong indications suggesting a potential switch to KwaZulu-Natal rivals AmaZulu FC ahead of the 2025/26 DStv Premiership campaign.
Allan, whose contract with the Natal Rich Boyz expired at the end of June, opted not to renew his deal, making him a free agent. Soccer Laduma sources have revealed that the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Moroka Swallows centre-back is now attracting attention from within the province, particularly from AmaZulu, who are undergoing a defensive reshuffle of their own.
Usuthu have released a host of experienced defenders in recent weeks, including Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Thembela Sikhakhane, Kwanda Mngonyama, Mbongeni Gumede, and Sandile Khumalo. With such a significant overhaul at the back, the Durban outfit is reportedly eyeing Allan to reinforce their defensive line.
Despite Richards Bay battling relegation last season, Allan stood out as one of their key performers. He featured in 27 matches across all competitions and helped the team register eight clean sheets—an impressive feat considering the team’s struggles. His composure on the ball, aerial presence, and ability to read the game make him a valuable asset for any club looking to tighten its backline.
The 23-year-old has had a nomadic spell in the PSL over the last two seasons, turning out for Swallows, SuperSport United, and most recently Richards Bay. Now, Allan is believed to be seeking a club where he can settle and develop long-term, and AmaZulu could provide the stability and competitive platform he’s looking for.
AmaZulu are expected to make official announcements regarding new signings in the coming weeks. The club has set its sights on qualifying for CAF competitions and contending for domestic silverware, making experienced, consistent performers like Allan a priority in their recruitment drive.
As the new season approaches, a move to AmaZulu could offer Allan the opportunity to cement his place in a team with higher ambitions and greater visibility. For Usuthu, it could be a smart move in their bid to build a resilient, competitive squad.
