Fiacre Ntwari Faces Uncertain Future at Kaizer Chiefs Amid International Concerns

Fiacre Ntwari’s situation at Kaizer Chiefs raises questions about his international career. The 25-year-old goalkeeper has now gone nine months without playing a competitive match for Chiefs.
Ntwari arrived from TS Galaxy at the start of last season and began as first choice, featuring in seven games. However, he soon lost his spot, spending much of the season on the bench and in the stands.
Despite limited club minutes, Ntwari has remained Rwanda’s preferred goalkeeper. He played all six international matches since his last Chiefs appearance on November 2, 2024, when Chiefs lost 4-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns in the Carling Knockout Cup.
Concerns grow over his ability to maintain the starting role for Rwanda while lacking regular club football. Rwanda’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria and Zimbabwe will test his form and status.
Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi confirmed Ntwari is still part of the squad. He must compete with Brandon Petersen and Bruce Bvuma for the goalkeeper position.
Ntwari is in the second season of a four-year contract with Chiefs, which includes an option for an additional year. Any transfer would require a fee agreement.
Recent interest has come from Tanzania’s Young Africans, who offered a loan deal. Clubs in France’s second division and Azerbaijan have also reportedly expressed interest.
If Ntwari departs, Chiefs would free up a foreign player slot. Currently, they have three other foreign players registered: Glody Makabi Lilepo (DR Congo), Inacio Miguel (Angolan-Portuguese), and Flavio Silva (Guinea Bissau-Portuguese).
Ntwari’s next move will be key for his playing time and his future with the Rwanda national team.
