Cape Town City Sign Former Kaizer Chiefs Defender Njabulo Ngcobo

Cape Town City have confirmed the signing of former Kaizer Chiefs defender Njabulo Ngcobo as they prepare for their campaign in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. The Citizens have been active in the transfer market, aiming to strengthen their squad after releasing several players following relegation from the top flight.
Ngcobo, a former PSL Defender of the Season, spent last season with Sekhukhune United but struggled for game time, making only six appearances in all competitions. The 31-year-old also faced limited opportunities during his spell at Kaizer Chiefs before his release at the end of the 2023/24 season.
City chairman John Comitis described Ngcobo’s arrival as a key addition, bringing experience and leadership to a squad preparing for a challenging season in the second tier. Ngcobo is expected to play a central role in City’s defence and help guide younger players in the squad.
The signing follows the acquisition of former Mamelodi Sundowns left-back Sifiso Ngobeni, adding further experience to the squad. Ngcobo and Ngobeni are set to be pivotal in Cape Town City’s bid for a swift return to top-flight football.
Ngcobo will be looking to regain regular playing time and make a significant impact as the Citizens aim to navigate the Motsepe Foundation Championship successfully.
