Kaizer Chiefs Strengthen Squad with New Signings

Kaizer Chiefs are set to welcome three new additions to their squad as Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. assessed Etiosa Ighodaro, Luke Baartman, and Asanele Velebayi ahead of their expected debuts.

The trio joins a club already enjoying momentum on the pitch, having won three consecutive matches. Off the pitch, Chiefs have reinforced their roster with nine new signings, including Nkanyiso Shinga, Ethan Chislett, Flavio Silva, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Thabiso Monyane, and Paseka Mako, alongside the latest additions.

Following a 1-0 win over Richards Bay FC, the three new players were unveiled at halftime. Motaung Jr. told SuperSport TV that the club is focused on recruiting the best young talent in the country.

“We are very excited, and we’ve always had a clear strategy about getting the best young talent. We’re just very pleased to welcome them – obviously, there are a few administrative issues still to be addressed,” he said.

Motaung Jr. highlighted the potential impact of Ighodaro, Baartman, and Velebayi while noting that they will need time to adapt to the club’s style.

“But we’re very excited, especially in bringing Ighodaro upfront. We know the young talent with Baartman and Velebayi, we’re excited to unleash them on the fans, but at the same time, they will need some time to understand who we are. This process hasn’t been easy. Again, the squad is peaking, but we’re still very much a work in progress,” he added.

Chiefs remain second on the league log, trailing Sekhukhune United only on goal difference. Their next challenge comes against Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday, a match that will test the depth and quality of their bolstered squad.
