Kaizer Chiefs Await Arrival of New Signing Khanyisa Mayo

Kaizer Chiefs have introduced new signing Khanyisa Mayo to their supporters on social media, but the striker has yet to arrive at Naturena. Mayo joins the club on a loan deal from Algerian side CR Belouizdad, with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season. His arrival is part of Chiefs’ active transfer window as they aim to strengthen their squad for the Premiership campaign.

Mayo’s return to South Africa is delayed, making him a doubt for Chiefs’ first Betway Premiership match after the international break. Reports indicate he is waiting for certain documents before he can officially join the team in Soweto.

The former Cape Town City forward was not registered for the season at Belouizdad, as he was not part of coach Sead Ramovic’s plans. Mayo still has two years remaining on a three-year contract with the Algerian club, which facilitated the loan move to Chiefs.

His arrival adds depth to Chiefs’ attacking options, joining a forward line that includes Etiosa Ighodaro, who is also yet to make his debut. The club’s strategy to bring in multiple strikers reflects their push to compete for top honours in the league.

The recent signings, including Flavio Silva, increase competition for spots up front. This has placed additional pressure on Tashreeq Morris, who is expected to depart Naturena before the transfer window closes. Chiefs’ management is clearly focused on creating a dynamic and competitive squad for the season ahead, with Mayo’s arrival a key part of that plan.
