Bradley Ralani Set for Possible Betway Premiership Comeback

Former Mamelodi Sundowns star Bradley “Surprise” Ralani could be making a shock return to professional football, despite announcing his retirement in November 2025. The 38-year-old officially hung up his boots after Cape Town City confirmed his retirement, following his appointment as head coach of Gaza United in the Northern Cape ABC Motsepe League.

Ralani enjoyed a distinguished career both locally and abroad. He had stints in Sweden and Denmark before returning to South Africa, where he featured for clubs including Cape Town City, Mamelodi Sundowns, Cape Town Spurs, and Hungry Lions. Known for his dribbling ability and attacking intelligence, Ralani has left a lasting mark on South African football.

Despite stepping away from playing, sources close to the player indicate that Ralani may return to the field at Betway Premiership level. Newly-promoted Orbit College are reportedly keen on securing his services ahead of the second half of the season.

Orbit College, currently 13th on the table with 13 points from 14 matches, have struggled for consistency and are four points clear of bottom-placed Chippa United. The club believes Ralani’s experience and leadership could prove vital in their fight to avoid relegation. Orbit’s management have already strengthened the squad with experienced players such as Ramahlwe Mphahlele and see Ralani as a further boost for the campaign.

The Mswenko Boys returned to training on Monday following a break for the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. Preparations are now underway for the second round of the season, with Orbit hoping Ralani’s possible return will add quality and composure to their attack.

If confirmed, Ralani’s comeback would mark a remarkable twist in his career, transitioning from retirement and coaching back to top-flight football, and providing fans with another chance to witness his signature dribbling and match-winning ability.
