Ajax Cape Town signing Vasco da Gama midfielder Ndiviwe Mdabuka on a free transfer.
Ajax Cape Town are understood to have completed the signing of Vasco da Gama midfielder Ndiviwe Mdabuka on a free transfer.
Mdabuka’s contract with Vasco expires at the end of the current season, and he is believed to have signed a pre-deal and agreed to move back to the Urban Warriors.
Tony de Nobrega, Vasco’s head coach, said he had attempted to convince Mdabuka to stay.
“We were talking to Mdabuka, but obviously he wanted to play for a PSL team. You can’t keep your best players if you’re unable to offer what a PSL club can,” De Nobrega told Soccer Laduma.
“He’s an ex-Ajax player, they wanted him back so there’s nothing you can do. It’s a pity, but that’s what happens.”
Mdabuka broke into the Vasco team last season and has helped the club to the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup and into the middle of the National First Division table during the current campaign.
He is the second NFD player to sign a pre-contract with Ajax, after Milano United’s Ruzaigh Gamildien agreed to move to Ikamva at the end of the current season.
