Al Ahly Players and Coaching Staff Fined R280 000 For Cup Final Defeat! The Egyptians lost the domestic cup final last night.

Al Ahly lost 3-2 on penalties to El Geish in the Egyptian Super Cup Final last night. The club did not take lightly to this defeat as they have fined the players and the coaching staff 300 000 Egyptian pounds (R280 000).

Club president Mahmoud El Khatib did not take the unexpected loss very well.

“Mahmoud El Khatib, Al Ahly’s president, decided to impose a 300k fine on Al Ahly players, director of football and the coaching staff after the disappointing performance in the Egyptian Super Cup on Tuesday, despite the great support that the team receives to achieve titles and meet the expectations of the fans.

“Also, the administrative staff and the medical staff will be subjected to a fine that is relative to their salaries.” The statement from the club read.

This defeat puts an eerily bad stain on Pitso Mosimane’s tenure as head coach of AL Ahly. In two seasons at the helm, he has won 4 major trophies.

This includes an historic treble victory from the previous campaign. This season, they have only won the CAF Champions League.

That trophy alone would suffice in almost every single club in Africa. Al Ahly though, have standards which are incomparable to any other team.

This is how they deem it appropriate to fine every single employee of the club for the defeat. Al Ahly Players and Coaching Staff Fined R280 000 For Cup Final Defeat!
