Al Ahly to Play Mamelodi Sundowns in CAF Champions League! Pitso Mosimane will reunite with his former employers in the quarter-finals stages.

In what is the biggest game of the CAF Champions League this season, the current holders will play South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns. Pitso Mosimane will face The Brazilians for the first time since departing for Egypt in September.

Pitso Mosimane spent 7 successful years in Pretoria with Mamelodi Sundowns. Jingles won the club’s first ever CAF Champions League in 2016, among a flurry of other trophies.

He left in September 2020 after winning a domestic treble with Bafana Ba Style. He was presented with the opportunity to coach Al Ahly at the highest level of African football.

Upon arrival at Al Ahly, Pitso Mosimane won yet another treble, in the same season. This treble included last season’s CAF Champions League.

After finishing second in their group, Al Ahly will now take on Mamelodi Sundowns, who topped their own group. This is mouth-watering fixture will take place in a few weeks’ time with the return leg a week later.

Sundowns have performed better than Al Ahly in the tournament thus far, but that will mean nothing when these two sides take each other on.
