Amazulu Offload Former Kaizer Chiefs Winger Ovidy Karuru

ZIMBABWE international midfielder Ovidy Karuru has parted ways with struggling South African Premiership side AmaZulu by mutual consent going into the upcoming January transfer window.

The KwaZulu-Natal outfit took to Twitter to announce the news as they seek a turnaround of fortunes with the season on a mid-season break and the transfer window opening this January.

The Durban-based club, which is currently second from bottom on the log and in real danger of being relegated.

The club announced the departure of the midfielder following a mutual termination agreement.

“AmaZulu FC and Zimbabwean international attacking midfielder, Ovidy Karuru (30) have reached a mutual agreement for the termination of his contract with immediate effect. “We wish him well for his future ventures.”

The midfielder had been at the struggling KwaZulu-Natal outfit since being picked up as a free agent in February 2017 after an unsuccessful stint at Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs.

He made just four league appearances for the Glamour Boys across two season, all off the bench.

Karuru was part of the Zimbabwe squad that contested the 2019 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, and has 20 caps under his belt in a career stretching over a decade.

The Warriors midfielder’s current contract with AmaZulu was supposed to expire in June 2020 but he is now a free agent and will join a club of his choice in the next transfer window, which opens next month.
