Andile Jali took to social media to show love to assistant coach Steve Komphela. The duo has had a strong relationship for many years now.
Komphela has been part of the Mamelodi Sundowns setup since 2020, leaving Golden Arrows to take up an assistance coach role at the club after Pitso Mosimane left for Al Ahly. But even before that, the two Eastern Cape fellows had quite a rapport with each other.
Since they’d been working together at Chloorkop, their relationship has grown even stronger. Now that it seems Jali’s time at Sundowns is coming to an end, Komphela may be one of the few people who are in his corner.
Drinking Incident
Two weeks ago, it was reported that Andile Jali and Sipho Mbule reported to training under the influence of alcohol. Head coach Rulani Mokwena refused to speak on the matter and refused to put any of his players under the bus.
Mbule has returned to the first team and played against Stellenbosch FC a couple of weeks back. Jali on the other hand is still being frozen out, which is not a good sign as his contract is coming to an end when the season finishes.
“My responsible comment was that until such time that the club has officially made a statement and has officially involved me in that statement, I can’t comment,” their agent Mike Makaab told Gagasi FM, when asked about the incident.
“Because all I’m going to comment about is what I’ve heard and what I’ve read. Yes, I have [spoken to Mbule and Jali] and both players have elected to say very little, to say there has been one or two issues, but those issues have been sorted out.” He spoke.
