Ayanda Patosi Plunges Into War Zone Joins Iranian Club On 6-Month Loan
Cape Town City and South Africa midfielder Ayanda Patosi has secured a transfer to Persian Gulf Pro League side Foolad Football Club on a six-month loan deal.
The 27-year-old technically gifted midfielder joins the club at a time of heavy tension in the Persian country‚ who are at odds with the United States over the assassination of a key military figure‚ Qassem Soleimani.
Despite the threat of a potential war in the region, the former Lokeren star has agreed to join the club for the remainder of the season.
“South African midfielder Ayanda Patosi joined the Steelers for a half-year loan‚” Foolad confirmed on their official website.
“Several Iranian teams were looking for this creative midfielder. With this loan, the team will certainly compete with more stars in the league and will be significantly strengthen the attacking options.”
Foolad who have been winners of the Persian Gulf League before are currently seventh‚ 10 points behind leaders Persepolis just past the halfway mark of the season.
Patosi had another successful spell with eight-time Iranian champions Esteghlal in the second round of the 2018/19 season.
The ASD Cape Town academy product netted four goals and registered four assists in 13 Persian Gulf League matches.
