Benni McCarthy Reacts to The Passing of Rapper AKA! The much-loved musician passed away last week Friday.
The untimely death of rapper AKA has shaken the country to its very core. Former friend and footballer Benni McCarthy has shared his emotions upon the bad news.
AKA was a big fan of football and some of the South African legends. The duo first crossed paths when the rapper was shooting his music video for Jealousy in 2012, as McCarthy made an appearance.
They also spent time together in 2015, when McCarthy was covering the 2015 UEFA Champions League final between FC Barcelona and Juventus. SupaMega was a travelling visitor, in Germany for the showpiece game.
As a consequence, they have remained close friends ever since then.
“I’m absolutely heartbroken to hear of the passing of my bro Kiernan Forbes AKA. My condolences to Kiernan’s family and little girl. RIP Young King” he posted on his Instagram.
Last year McCarthy was unveiled as the strikers’ coach at Manchester United, the favourite team of AKA. The rapper was full of happiness and support for his friend after he got the job.
“Speechless. @bennimac17 @manchesterunited . The word “proud” doesn’t do this moment justice. My uncle played for Cape Town Spurs, my father is from the Plein, my hero, my GOAT, this is just unbelievable. From Hanover Park to Old Trafford. Unreal.” He posted.
