Big Zulu celebrity soccer tournament is a resounding success
Wits University was a hive of activity on Sunday as Mzansi’s mucial icons batteld it out on the soccer pitch for a day of soccer at the Jammin 2 Soccer Celebrity Games Tournament.
What started as a just a challenge between two musicians, Khuzani Mpungose and Big Zulu, has now become an annual calendar event with four musical genres, Maskandi, Hip Hop, Gqom and Amapiano competing for the title.
Maskandi and Hip-hop made it to the final play off, game drew an unprecedented media attention and viewership.
The prominent maskandi musician, Khuzani Mpungose, whose ‘iJele’ was voted song of the year by the listeners of UkhoziFmled the Maskandi team to a nailbiting victory, walking away with R100 000.
While the Mali Eningi hitmaker who was joined by his itelMobile family at the event, Big Zulu captained the star-studdedhip-hop team to the finals.
Soccer and music fans came out in their numbers and packed the stadium to witness was an entertaining and gripping soccer tournament which saw some of the biggest names in music showing off their football talent, including Cassper Nyovest, AKA, DJ Tira, Donald, Sjava and radio giant Tbo Touch.
