Bradley Carnell Announced As New York Red Bulls Interim Coach. The announcement was made recently after the club sacked their head coach. He was an assistant to Jesse Marsch when he was bought into the club in 2017.
New York Red Bulls have ambitions to reach the heights of Red Bull franchises Salzburg and Leipzig. Their current standing of 7th spot out of 9 games is Carnell’s first job. The club are a massive deal in the MLS and hope to reach this season’s playoffs.
“It’s been an emotional rollercoaster, we know how we valued Chris and CJ, what happened came as a shock to everybody” said the former Bafana Bafana left-back.
Bradley Carnell retired from football in 2011 after one season with SuperSport United. Bidvest Wits is the club that gave him his first team debut at the age of 16 in 1993. He went on to play for Kaizer Chiefs for only one season before departing for Europe.
Carnell represented VFB Stuttgart between 1998 and 2003, making 82 first team appearances. He then went on to play for Borussia Monchengladbach and Karslruher in the German Bundesliga.
Bradley Carnell made 42 senior apperances for Bafana Bafana, making the 2002 FIFA World Cup Squad.
Carnell was a regular football analyst and commentator for SuperSport after his retirement. He joined New York Red Bulls in 2017.
Bradley was an assistant to Jesse Marsch, who’s since moved onto RB Salzburg in Austria. The Austrian champions made an impressive statement in European football last season. They implemented a high intensity game.
Marsch had talents such as Erling Braut Haaland and Takumi Minamino.
Bradley Carnell will hope to emuliate, if not better, the successes of Jesse Marsch.
