Chiefs Have Dismissed Dumisani Zuma!

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the dismissal of midfielder Dumisani Zuma following “numerous disciplinary issues” as described by the club.

Zuma has had two suspensions at the club with the first one in November 2021 following his arrest for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. He was suspended again at the beginning of May 2022 after he allegedly came to training with a hangover.

Moreover, according to Soccer Laduma Zuma had a “heated altercation with the club’s interim coach Arthur Zwane and was subsequently separated from the rest of the squad who were in training”.

Amakhosi expressed disappointment after they suspended the former Bloemfontein Celtic winger for the second time.

“The club is disappointed to report that Dumisani Zuma has been suspended once again pending an internal disciplinary process,” Chiefs wrote on their website.

“Zuma has just returned from a 10-month absence, which included him being suspended and undergoing rehabilitation processes. In the turn of events following his return and subsequently scoring in the 1-2 loss to Cape Town City on weekend, Zuma has been found to have transgressed the Club’s code of conduct.”

Two weeks ago, Zuma reportedly requested a clearance as he wanted to see himself out of Naturena but his agent didn’t want to confirm the news.

“This is a difficult question to answer because you know how Chiefs are about the media coming out with their camp news before they do,” Michaels told SABC Sport.

“We are still going through the disciplinary process and I ask that you give us time to ventilate it, from my personal experience the outcome won’t be favorable but weirder things have happened in football.”

Chiefs recently announced a long list of the players that will be departing ahead of the next season and Zuma joins Samir Nurkovic, Lebohang Manyama, Lazarous Kambole, Daniel Cardoso, Leonardo Castro, Daniel Akpeyi, Kearyn Baccus.

Chiefs’ statement:

Attacking midfielder Dumisani Zuma’s numerous disciplinary issues have led to the Club letting him go with a year still remaining on his contract.

This follows his latest appearance in front of the DC, which resulted in his dismissal as recommended by an independent authority. The 27-year-old only featured three times in 2021/22 for Chiefs.

Since joining from Bloemfontein Celtic in 2017, he has been suspended a number of times, including twice in one season. He was also sent to rehab and counselling in the season that just ended. Over five seasons, he played 100 matches (25 starts + 75 subs) and scored 13 goals for Amakhosi.

We wish Dumi well in the future.
